You have resurrected an old post. Depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for excitement then Soho, Hyde Park, Downtown, Downtown St. Petersburg. Neighborhoods that will likely appreciate nicely that I see based on development patterns are Seminole Height, Temple Terrace, West Shore, and others I mentioned beforehand. There is a move toward central development now since the rising price of gas and housing bubble.

Are you looking to rent or buy? House or apt? Do you want to live around other Asians or does it matter to you? What about work, do you have a job and if so what area? What price range?

I suggest you rent to get the feel for the area. Unless you don't mind a long commute you should try to live relatively close to work. 10 miles can be a 30-40 minute commute in rush hour.

Beach Park, Tampa. All highways to anywhere good are 5 minutes. Downtown Tampa 15 minutes. Reverse commute (i.e., little to no traffic) if you live in Beach Park and work in St. Pete or Clearwater. Important retail, 5-10 minutes. Three post offices within 5-10 minutes. Publix is 5 minutes. Airport 5-10 minutes. Malls 5 minutes. Gorgeous neighborhood, my brother lives there. Stay north of Azeele and south of Beachway. My other brother lives in Trinity, Pasco County, and is about to get a divorce from the stress of commuting from there to Tampa every day for work. Of course he is underwater and can't move. Most of the people I know who work, work in Tampa, and they all regret living in the burbs due to traffic and rush hour patterns. I live in Westchase and the traffic to TPA is not unbearable, but I could see how it could get there.

Dana Shores is a disaster waiting to happen. One decent hurricane and that place will be washed off the map.

True. Lived there from 1963 till 04 and just moved back this year. After all them years nothing happened. I will say our number is due, been lucky for over 80 years. Can't keep getting lucky for much longer.

I tell ya, I think this is going to be a rough season for hurricanes. Hopefully nothing will bother FL, but like you said, our number is due.
