Hi I'm a 47 divorced male. I don't know anything about Tampa at all and I am looking to rent a one bedroom condo in the greater Tampa area. First choice would be on the water. I am lucky enough to work from home and don't need to worry about commuting any where. Plan on being here about 1 year. What areas would you recommend to look at? What are areas I should avoid? My budget is around $1000 a month or less. I appreciate all recommendations!

Check out Indian Rocks Beach. It's a great little beach community that hasn't been overrun by commercialization. A quick look on Craigslist pulled up a few matches in the $900-$1100 range.

If you know nothing about Tampa and environs, I'd strongly suggest you go down for a week or so and drive around to check it out. I'd suggest any of the Beaches or South Pasadena or parts of Gulfport but you really need to see for yourself. Good luck!
