My family plans to move to the Tampa/Saint Petersburg area in the near future. My husband and I will be retired, so commute to work will not be an issue. We have a 1st grader, so schools are hugely important. We want to be close to all the activities a kid would want to be part of and would like to be close racquetball facilities (tennis may end up being okay). Price range: around 300K. Do you have suggestions for great areas?

A nice area and one of the best areas for schools is the Palm Harbor area, especially the East Lake side.

Is Riverview, near Tampa, a nice place for families with children?

I'm not real familiar with Riverview. The general impression I get is that there is heavy traffic in the Brandon / Riverview area. Not sure about family friendly. There has been a lot of foreclosures in the area. Just like most of FL. Check out zillow.com
