Hello,

Can anyone please give me some APT recommendations for the Tampa area, but none that are named Camden, because Camden forces you to pay for cable even if you don't want it, overcharges for trash and water, and if they do give you a washer/dryer its a real small one and they charge you extra rent for it.

Anyway, if someone can recommend some places so I can look at their floor plans now, and call them for more info if needed, so when I drive out to Tampa I know exactly what apts to check out.

What I am looking for is 1 bedroom, or perhaps 1 bed w/ Den if its fairly priced. I would like to pay no more than $900/mo rent, not counting electric bill which I know I pay myself. I want full size washer/dryer connections. I would also like a place that charges your water bill individually per unit, because the way places like Camden do it, it divides among the entire building. They were telling me I would pay $45 to $50 a month for water, and they acted like that was a good thing. I pay $20 for water now because I am billed per what I use.

In terms of what part of Tampa I am looking at, I dont want ghetto or high crime, but I also dont have to live in South Tampa. I notice that when people on here ask about Tampa apts everyone is always pushing South Tampa for some reason. I don't care about traffic, schools, or job market, all I want is apt recommendations in low crime areas, thanks in advance.

P.S. Last time I asked about Apts on here I was messaged by several people who turned out to be employees of Apt Complexes and were just trying to make a sale off of me. So if that is your intention please dont bother because I can tell who is legit and who is a salesman.

have you looked at post properties? they have some pretty decent complexes around the area. not 100% on washers/dryers in the units but i know they have hookups.

Never heard of them, but thanks. I am looking at their plans now. They do seem kind of expensive, maybe they will be cheaper in the fall. I notice they charge more for units w/ Washer/Dryer connections. I only need connections anyway, not installed. Just an FYI, if an apt provides you Washer/Dryer in the unit, odds are your rent is higher because you are renting their appliance. Depending on how long you live there, it may be cheaper to buy your own. Camden proved this to me when the unit I was looking at didn't have connections, then they said they would install their own Washer/Dryer and I had to pay for installation and then also increase my rent.

Anyway, hopefully some other people here will have a few other options I can look at if these Post Properties stay too expensive. Someone mentioned The Cove which I may check out, but I would like a few places in advance, but no Camden, I dont like being forced to pay for cable, thanks.

*** I may actually wind up having to rent a condo or something independent. The apt renting scene in Tampa is not what I am used to. All the apts prices change daily, and they even confirm that and say its because they are "competitive". But I have seen prices on the same units go up and down by $300 in a matter of 2 weeks. Where I live, the rent is pretty much the same no matter what time of the year you move in. This must be a Tampa thing.

i can't claim more than a passing interest in their properties as their name came up when i was moving to tampa. i do know that some of their properties are more expensive than comparable units in other neighborhoods, as to be expected. rocky point is a pretty nice place (one of my favorite parts of tampa, actually) which is why their name came to mind since they have 2 developments on opposite sides of the street right over there. good luck.
