I have family members in the NPR area and I am planning on moving down soon from Atlanta. These family members have offered to enroll my daughter in Fellowship Baptist Academy, and pay the tuition, school clothes, supplies, etc. I am a product of GA public schools, and I would tend to believe the private schools are better, however, I can't find much info on this school, other than the fact that it has very few students. Schoolmatters is gone, and I've tried Greatschools and all the others. Does anybody know about this school. Just don't want my 1st grader in some kind of "cult" church.

Click on this link, then look at the info in the lower right hand corner of the link

Fellowship Baptist Academy in New Port Richey, FL

It has only 36 students and ranks scholastically down near the bottom Florida wide. Only you can decide what is acceptable education for your child. I wouldn't call this a cult but very obviously strongly affiliated with that one Church.

Perhaps it would be better to move, attend that church for a year and then make a decision as to whether you wanted your child to attend their school.

Personally I would find a school that tiny to be lacking in resources/ trained staff for a really solid education especially if their are goals of children going on to college.

Thank you for your input. What I can't figure out is what those rankings are based on. Are the test scores terrible?, Are they teaching math, history, reading, writing, art, etc... Or are they just teaching religion all day? I wish "School Matters" had not been taken down. A first hand review would be so awesome.
