my hubby is in love with Clearwater, I told him we should stay more inland for the first year to get use to everything. We are coming for NH.
We have 3 kids I am looking for good schools and low crime. Is Clearwater the place?

Clearwater is not a good place for kids - sorry. The school's aren't very good and the neighborhoods aren't very family friendly. If you want to be near the beach, look into the Seminole area.

Check out Palm Harbor, that may be a good option for your family.

What exactly is turning your hubby on to Clearwater? as every time i go there i find the area kinda crowded, traffic congestion, too many highrise condo's and hotels,no parking. If his passion is solely for the beach be aware that for many residents of Fla.the novelty of the beach does wear off after a while
Your idea to back off from the beach is a good idea however there are better options than Clearwater,Dunedin,Tarpon Springs,Indian Rocks,Redington,Belair are a few that come to mind..

Is he in love with Clearwater or the uninformed postcard image of Clearwater (mainly the beach area)?

Clearwater itself........ pretty much sucks, save for the downtown, which is manicured and nice, until you acquire that inescapable creepy vibe given off by the scientologists trapsing through the streets.

Not a good place for children at all.

Palm Harbor is the place if you want to be somewhat inland, but also closer to the water. Clearwater is to visit "sometimes".

wow! We get these ideas in our heads of nice places. The truth is you will not know till you live there.
I moved here from Michigan last spring. My hubby works in clearwater. To make a long story short. We accidentally ended up in trinity fl. It's about 30 mins and 45 with traffic to clearwater. about 30 mins to Tampa. 30-45 mins to busch gardens. Its 15 min to 30 min from 4 malls. Has awesome schools. Clean area with plenty of shopping. Check it out! I agree clearwater is awesome at the beach ! That is whats awesome about clearwater. Good luck with where you may move!
