Relocating from a busy city to fun in the sun. Having a hard time finding some safe, affordable and socially scene areas in Tampa. As a single female Safety is #1 priorty although you can never guarantee but dont want to be in harms way. An artsy area is always nice.

Where is your job located? There are a lot of places that meet your requirement but it is how far do you want to spend on the road during rush hour

Tampa does not have beaches. St. Pete has the things you describe (Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is great for walking trails). However, the apartment/condo you describe... well, it depends on your definition of "safe". You may want to check around Gulfport, but be carefull - a few blocks in the wrong direction can put you in a very bad neighborhood.

Well Keeper I'm a consultant so I have the option to work from home but was considering getting back into hotel management. Oh and I live in Atlanta now so traffic is not a deterance for me. 30mins for me is ok. Just want to be somewhere peaceful.

If you want to be near water, can currently work from home and plan on getting into hospitality.. I would suggest Pinellas County.
Look around Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, Indian Rocks Beach and Clearwater.
Please note, the places I gave you have some fair priced and expensive areas to live. The closer to the water, the more you will pay. Don't expect anything real nice or huge for your budget. You will probably be able to find something decent and quaint. All these areas are pretty safe... except for some areas in Clearwater.

That's painting with a broad brush, don't you think? You heard that all of St. Pete - the entire city - is unsafe? I'm not saying Tampa is

safer than St. Pete. It's debatable, I guess. It all depends on where you are in each city.
I'd suggest you look a little deeper and don't just take someone's anecdotal evidence as the absolute truth.

Well I was just sayin "I heard its not the safest".
Didnt say this was a fact . I am not going by one persons word at all if so, I would not be on this site seeking suggestions. We all know damn near every city in the county has certain areas that are a bit more crime driven then others and thats not debatable. I def appreciate your response and as your suggestion I will continue to do more research.

Thanks! I have acutally looked into a few places in Treasure Island. Quaint is ok with me being safe is def more important. A drive to the beach is fine as well.
As far as saftey, entertainment and cost. How would you say these cities are?
