My wife and I may be moving to the Tampa area in the next 6-8 weeks due to a job opportunity with the Tampa VA. I've been doing some looking online, but was wondering if anyone could provide suggestions on good apartment complex in safe areas. We're looking for a 2 bedroom, cat friendly, with washer/dryer connections (must have). Hopefully looking to spend $900-1100 a month, lower is better. 45 minute commute to the VA is acceptable. No children so schools are not a concern.

Look at Brandon. I enjoyed staying at the apartment complex at Faulkenberg and Causeway. It was a nice neighborhood with quick access to I 75.

Check out Equestrian Park in New Tampa. They are condos but they do have rentals. Very reasonable and they do have washer/dryers plus some have garages that are extra IIRC. It is not that far from VA tampa

Alright it's looking like this may be a reality soon. Any other suggestions for where to find nice 2 BR apartments in the $850-1000 range?

Also, any recommendations on how to move a 2BR apartment? I'm thinking of renting a pod for shipping. We have one queen size bed that disassembles well, a love seat, couch, chair 2 dressers, washer/dryer and a couple desks.

We used the uhaul u-box recently. It was an inexpensive efficient way to get the job done. It also helps if you need some storage for a few days due to timing of your move out and move in dates, the box just stays at the uhaul place in your new city til you are ready for it. Good luck.

We lived in apartments at Allison Park Place for three years - they are off Bruce B Downs on Cross Creek. It was a long time ago but they were nice, clean, pet friendly, reasonably priced and had washer/dryer hookups.

Might be worth checking out the Cross Creek area in general as you can get to I-75 via Morris Bridge Road without having to use Bruce B. Downs.

Carlton Arms off of ..? fletcher I believe? has waterfront apts/townhomes at really suprising rates. I had cowrkers in Sarasota that loved these apts so much due to the waterfront/price combo they commuted over an hour to work from there to Sarasota for about two years. It's only about 10-15 min yo the VA off BBDowns. But this was in 2006...so, hopefully there still well taken care of, I do believe they are older.

I'll be at the one in Tampa, right across from USF. Thanks for the suggestions folks. Carlton Arms north looks like the one you suggested Cmor2day, but it doesn't appear to have washer/dryer connections.

How many do you think it would take for a 2 BR apartment? We have a love seat, couch, chair, 2 dressers, and a queen size bed. It suggests 2-3 cubes.
