Both Essrig and Ben Hill are excellent schools. I wouldn't hesitate to send my children to either.

Avoid anything near where your husband's job is, however, that is not a good area for housing nor schools.

Rather than Riverview and Apollo Beach, consider Valrico, Bloomingdale East and Fishhawk. Far better places, stable, excellent schools and a fairly easy commute.

Default In public school?

I never would have considered schools on the west coast of FL to be 'good'. Some may be better than others but face it, the state of Florida has no state income tax, the elderly are the tax base and people do not generally move to FL for schools.

Check out the local school districts to see if they provide on line access to test scores. Find an area with minimimal multi-family dwellings first. Find a home and check out the private schools.....
