I may be able to start working at home soon and be able to pull my son out of daycare. I'd love to find a gym where I could workout that has a decent daycare. We may be moving within the next six months so I definitely don't want to go somewhere that I would have to sign a contract.

We really liked the New Tampa YMCA but we live off of county line road near Bruce B. Downs and that is just too long of a drive due to traffic. Our subdivision has a nice gym but children aren't allowed.

Can anyone recommend a gym near New Tampa/Wesley Chapel that doesn't require a contract and that has daycare? I don't need anything too fancy, give me an elliptical and I'm happy.

Well, if you take Collier parkway back towards SR-54 there is a Lifestyle Family Fitness (or LA Fitness now)...My beef is that after being taken over by LA Fitness the personnel is very rude, and doesn't offer any deals...I am like you, need the baby center, and an elliptical...but NOT for $40 a month!!! LFF did not have a contract, so they worked great, I am actually talking about this with some from Tampa Bay Times, and about locations that will be closed down...etc, and this new monopoly LA Fitness has (after buying Bally, and now LFF). Not cool!

I don't like the stuffy "look at me, look at me" crowd that LA Fitness usually catches. So, I use my bike, get my little guy tired on the playground or pool, he naps, and I work! LOL The other thing to watch for is WHO is watching the kids? that one I mentioned earlier, and which is closest to you, the kids room does not have windows...I didn't like that...and the person watching them was very disinterested...and NOT engaging in any way...that baby center is good for the older kids, 5, 6 year'olds, but for the ones under 5 it sort of sucks because nobody is engaging them...and THEN they close it from like 1 to 4........I didn't like that either...

Its really hard now to find one that is worth it...they make these Gym's for those who are into their looks a lot these days, and there's no concern for the rest of us, and those with a LOT of time in their hands to use all the machines, pool etc; basically singles! Might as well get a bike yourself, and bike around for exercise...that's what I do now.

Thanks! Yeah, I've seen the people coming out of the L.A. Fitness near me. They all look to be in their early 20s and in really great shape. I figured it was basically just a pick-up place for singles.

Sidenote- young and single in New Tampa? Check out L.A. Fitness!

I don't know exactly where the nearest YouFit gym is in your area, but they are all over the place. And I'd be happy to transfer my membership (to the YouFit gym of your choice, any location) to you or anyone interested, for a mere $100. Can't beat $8.33 per month! (813)254-4487

If I were you, I would just find a way to drive to the Y. Here in Sarasota that is where I go, and it just can't be beat. And the Y's always have a good vibe there, just real people there to work out not get picked up or strut around. Good workout equipment and good classes too. I am about to start back at my Y after about a year break where I was working out on home equipment. It's a long drive for me, too, but it's worth it. Good luck!
