Pasco, as well as Hernando, give the Tampa Bay Area the rural air that other areas in Florida do not have.

I recommend those of you who live here and have always thought this area is downright flat and urban to go take the exit to the CR-41 in either direction to Dade City or Brooksville. It reminds me a lot of when I lived in Northern Virginia and traveled through the south part of Maryland close to Frederick and Hagestown- except for the mountains. But the hills are pretty nice.

I thought it was a small area along US-301 but the hills of Pasco and Hernando are quite extensive, albeit not as prominent than those in Clermont near Orlando. Below I will put some photos.

I love Dade City/San Antonio and lived there for 12 years. There are some significant hills, going up CR 41 NW into Blanton and Trilby, a good one right by St. Leo College, and one of the highest heading south on Ft. King Road from Dade City down into Z-hills. There is a lot of other beautiful rolling land all over, a really nice drive is taking that first route I mentioned (NW on CR 41) going over the big hill and continuing on into Brooksville, for more hills. It is amazing that so many people who have been in Tampa for years have NO idea that this landscape exists practically in their own back yard. It's a wonderful day-trip drive.

When we lived there, there were days that it ALMOST felt like being in the Smoky Mountain area. I used to be surprised that it still felt so relatively "undiscovered." Sadly, these days it HAS been discovered by more people and has lost some of it's rural feel, but hope it never gets really overpopulated.

Espizarro - thanks for the nice pics. It truly is hard to capture how those hills really look when you see them for yourself in a small pic. I used to try taking pictures, but they never did justice to the true beauty of the area. East Pasco is gorgeous in the spring - fields of wildflowers, masses of azaleas, camellias, redbuds, and more blooming all over town.

When I first passed through Pasco like six years ago (I lived in Fort Myers) on I -75 I thought it was a really small area but in fact in goes several miles from Dade City, Z-Hills, Brooksville all the way to Inverness in Citrus. It is really a rural area with mountainous feeling. This is why I believe this is the best area in Florida, you basically got everything here. Perhaps no mountains but it definitely it ain't that flat as some project it to be. Flat? Miami... Now that IS flat.

I grew up in this area and recognized every area in the pictures! I'm living in Sarasota now but would love to get back up that way.
