Why not give a heads up to future residents of the particular area you are talking about rather than just generalizing with an everything west of Mariner comment .
I'll take your word for it not being a poor neighborhood but from your description it could be construed that thats the picture you are trying to paint=

it was "problematic" living west of Mariner. At the time, we had two young children. There were no sidewalks there, the neighborhood kids smoked pot in the culvert next to our house, 3 and 4 year olds were allowed to wander the street without adult supervision, several of the neighborhood kids dropped the F-bomb numerous times in front of my kids, we had items stolen off our front walk, and several students from the school in which I used to teach were offered drugs in the park nearby. There was also a drive-by shooting on my old street a month or so before we moved.

You can not say the same about me. You have absolutely zero credibility.
Keep dreaming jack.

Be patient. Once they realize that kids smoke pot, use the F word, hang out in groups, and life isnt so different 50 miles away, will see the same comments again, different place though.

Not true. When I grew up in Tampa not so long ago, there were certain areas where there were more pot smoking, poorly behaved teens than others. We lived in several different neighborhoods from Town and Country, to Carrollwood, to Pelican Island, and Twin Branch Acres. We experienced far more problems in Town and Country than any of the other areas. In our new neighborhood here in Safety Harbor, we actually had the parents of the kids in the neighborhood come over to our house to meet us before letting their children play with our children. This did not happen in our old Spring Hill neighborhood. In fact, I came home one afternoon to find a 3 year old and a 6 year old playing unsupervised and uninvited on our playground in our backyard. When I questioned the parents about this, they responded that this was typical behavior for them. They didn't seem to think it was a problem to allow such young children to roam the street unsupervised. The other little girl (7 years old) my children befriended had parents who never came over to meet us and were perfectly OK allowing her to ride her bike several blocks to play with my kids. There was another boy, age 8, who came by to play with my kids. He used the F bomb several times. My kids told him we don't speak that way at our house, so he told them to F off and left. You may think this is NORMAL behavior, but it is most certainly NOT ACCEPTABLE according to my standards. My kids are not perfect, but they are good children on the whole. As a responsible parent, I cannot allow them to hang out with kids who are bad influences on them. Their new friends in our new neighborhood do not behave the way the kids in my old neighborhood did.

So a few people who are bad parents are the reason for the countless posts I had to read trashing Spring Hill while researching this forum before I moved here?

Got it.
