I know this may be asking for a lot due to the economy...but my family and I are looking to relocate to Tampa area. I want to a few opinions on this relocation as far as job search and family oriented place to live.

A little about us: Married couple in 30-35 range with two girls 10 and 4. I have an MBA in Accounting with about 5 years of experience in Internal Audit. My husband is a Casino Supervisor over Table Games at. We live in the suburbs of Memphis, TN and looking for a new start and a change.

We are Wondering if Tampa would be a good place to raise a family and how difficult would it be to find a job in our areas. We're not looking to buy a house only rent for awhile to see how much we like it or if its affordable. We recently visited the area and liked it alot! But we didn't get to see all the areas because we were actually in Orlando and drove to Tampa for just a day.

Would it be wise to make that transition? We would only move if we could find employment. Also a few names of hiring agency would be beneficial as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, the Hard Rock Casino looks like a no brainer for your husband. I don't know if they are hiring, but they recently had a job fair because they are expanding. I would think there website would be the place to look there.

I have seen numerous accounting jobs posted. I don't know how hard it is to get an interview, but a couple of my favorite places to look are usajobs.gov, indeed.com and the local county governments pages. Indeed.com takes job listing from numerous locations and puts them right into one website and you can click to see from there. Also, the IRS (not the most popular agencies) is probably a good place to look.

I just ran a quick search on indeed and a LOT of results came back.

GOOD LUCK!!!

My suggestion : Make sure you have employment before the move. Hard Rock Casino is the only bet for your hubby in Casino bus. Really check it out and overcome the hurdles before you come. FYI- Talking from experience

Definitely make sure you have jobs before the move. However, it sounds like you and your husband do have skills that would enable you to find jobs here. Are you a CPA or are you eligible to sit for the exam?

Isn't there also a floating casino? One that you take a ferry to a boat that is in international waters?

From what I have heard, Raymond James is suppose to be one of the better companies to work for (unless I am thinking of the stadium). Maybe also check out Publix (their base is in Lakeland), JPMorgan (Brandon/Tampa off of Martin Luther King, near I-75) and Citibank, just a short drive from JPMorgan. There is also Verizon in Temple Terrace.

IMO you are going to have a hard time finding employment applying from out of state. Plenty of out of work qualified peple already looking for work here. You also should educate yourself a little bit on some of the larger financial industry employers around here.

Raymond James is huge here. In fact the NFL Stadium is named Raymond James.

There are many jobs on the surface when doing a "search." However, as a person who has been looking for a job for a while --- these jobs are seeking people with specific training ---
It is difficult out here...

Hard Rock Casino for your husband; Ernst & Young or Raymond James for you. There are other smaller firms that may be a good fit too.
