Hi all. I currently live in Treasure Island and work in St. Pete. Easy commute. I'm applying for a job in the Int'l Mall area though. I've driven it a few times and know its about an hour. My question is - would any of the beaches further north be a quicker drive? I'm thinking no, because I'd be doing more in town road driving vs. 275 driving. The commute over Courtney Campbell is brutal, right?

The earliest I'd have to be at work is 9:30, so a little later than morning rush hour.

Thanks!

Take the gandy bridge, and come up Westshore to kennedy to louis, or if westshore is hectic you can come up manhattan and louis instead. Shouldnt take you more than 15/20 min to cut through S. Tampa.

No, you've got it right. Once you get north of St. Pete proper, there are few east-west roads that cross Pinellas, and they're all bottlenecks at rush hour -- slower than 1st Ave S (which I assume you're taking from TI to 275 now), and much slower than 275. The most convenient beach for your commute would be St. Pete Beach since that's the shortest drive time to 275. Tierra Verde is another option if you're OK not walking to the beach.

I live in Treasure Island and work across the street from International Plaza. It takes me 35 minutes during the week and 25 minutes on the weekend. I leave for work around 6:20 AM. I take 1st ave S, to 20th st. 20th st north to 275. I get off at the airport exit and take spruce. It's really an easy ride.

True, but I leave tampa and head back to Treasure Island at 7:40 AM. Granted, I am heading the opposite of most traffic, but I have traveled that route at all different times of the day and the trip has never taken more than 40 minutes.
