I made the switch from Brighthouse to Verizon Fios.
The Brighthouse customer service had all kinds of questions as to why.
I explained to them that the pricing was better than BH.
She offered me 60/5 for $90 per month.
I declined. My 50/25 for $50 per month is better.
She scheduled me an appointment for cable modem pickup at 10a-12p, for today.
12:15 I called. They called the tech, no answer, very unusual. They promised a call back in 30 minutes or less. Or send another tech to retrieve the cable modem. No call.
1:15 I called. They called the tech again, no answer, very unusual. They promised a call back from tech or them in 30 minutes. Or send tech to retrieve the cable modem. No call.
2:15 I called. They CSR won't try to reach the tech since the last two were unsuccessful. He said that I would just have to wait it out. I said my time is worth money $30 please. They credited it to my account.
2:30 Tech shows up at the door. His computer is down. He has to hand write a receipt. He told me to keep it close, because modems can get lost. He tossed it threw the window of the truck. I asked him if waiting 4 1/2 hours is acceptable. He said that he did not see the appointment. He missed it. No apology. I asked if he received any calls from BHN CSRs. He turned and walked away. He knocks on my door 5 minutes later. He asks where is the green box so that he can disconnect your cable. I closed the door. He asks threw the door, Do you have any dogs? I said no. I could of said yes, but I didn't. Poor guy. No I don't have dogs. But the guy just didn't care.

I bought my own cable modem so that a) I could use my own router instead of the all-in-one device, and b) eliminate the monthly modem rental fee.

I go to return the old modem to find out that the modem rental fee really applies to the EMTA device for the phone service. So, unless I go and buy one of those I am still stuck with the fee.

I think I am just going to port my number over to Ooma instead.

At least I have DirecTV, so I have no complaints on the TV side.

Will this be your first summer down here or have you lived here a while?

Ok I think Ive told you before but you will lose reception alot during the summer when theres storms. DTV is way better than brighthouse but I just couldnt take losing reception for 20-50 minutes at a time right when my favorite shows/games were on.

Customer service in a lot of businesses stinks. I try to be understanding and friendly as much as I can, but if I detect a condescending or disrespectful/discourteous attitude, I'll lay into them royally. I've been a BH customer for 4 yrs, no problems. OP, sorry to hear about your issues.

Their service has declined over the past years...just read my old blogs and you can see how my opinion changed from being very positive to so so...

One of my kids ordered new service with BH and ordered a HD-DVD recordable....when it came I noticed the old model that we had 3 years ago and it had 86% of recordings on it so we called and had them come out and change it for a newer empty box. At least they apologized...but they should have given a credit to her account. JMO!
