I don't think you're fully aware of the special task forces that the Reagan administration set up to attack drug trafficking through Florida from South America.

1982 South Florida Drug Task Force is formed.
Outraged by the drug trade's increasing violence in their city, Miami citizens lobby the federal government for help. Reagan responds by creating a cabinet-level task force, the Vice President's Task Force on South Florida. Headed by George Bush, it combines agents from the DEA, Customs, FBI, ATF, IRS, Army and Navy to mobilize against drug traffickers. Reagan later create s several other regional task forces throughout the U.S.

Unfortunately, liberals blocked any such action. The result is what we see today. Cuba was very proactive in dealing with HIV and never had an epidemic.
Bath Houses were only one place where HIV flourished. It also flourished withing section 8 housing complexes (Reagan's policies resulted in a lot of these) and within intravenous drug users.

You can't shut down bathhouses. What would be the point? Gay men would still be having sex with each other. Today, bathhouses are areas that educate a lot on safe sex. Every bath house today has condoms of every size, flavor, and color you could want for a cheap or free price.

Yeah. Lots of people are suffering today. But it sure wasn't Obama that put us in this mess. His policies haven't exactly gotten us out of it either, but he definitely didn't put us here.

I don't even know what a bath house is. Is that like an outhouse?

So stop kidding yourself. If liberals blocked that, all they did was protect this country from becoming fascist.
No, liberals blocked a VASTLY MILDER action: closing bathhouses where gay men were having stupendous amounts of dangerous sex.

You realize that if a person had a new partner every week for 20 years they would finally reach 1000 partners.

1000 partners is Gene Simmons territory...
YES, EXACTLY!!!! The numbers are hard for the normal person, such as you or me, to comprehend. As you read these numbers and read Prius's post (he hadn't even heard of the bathhouses) think about why the media has hidden such basic factual information from you and him and me.

Here is the actual figure:

"A.P. Bell and M.S. Weinberg, in their classic study of male and female homosexuality, found that 43 percent of white male homosexuals had sex with 500 or more partners, with 28 percent having 1,000 or more sex partners."

What is the average number of sex partners a gay man has in a lifetime

The Health Risks of Gay Sex

By the way, half of gay men still have unprotected sex TODAY even after AIDS is universally known:

I'm not sure how old you are CravingMountains, but I am old enough to know there really isn't much difference between both sides in the end.
