A follow up to my previous post. Are there jobs that pay $50k or more that are not in Medical? Which employers in the TB area are paying $50k or more? Seems like all jobs are low paying service jobs unless one is in the medical field?

Oh boy, tighten the seat belts. We're in for a bumpy ride.

Yes, places pay more than $50k in professions other than the medical field. My son for instance is in the finance field and makes more than $50k. But also, there are a lot of service sector jobs as well, as there are a lot of people here who need servicing.

I'm in the IT tech field and FL jobs are 1/3rd of what they pay elsewhere. We're not talking NYC or anything but just the run of the mill pay scale. If you don't like it, leave! NEXT! Sorry to say, the job pay scale is pi$$ poor here compared to other parts of the country. BUT, love the state (with all it's faults and the weather!!!!!)

In financial IT areas. There are a few large financial services companies, including Citi, that have a large presence in Tampa.

there are quite a few that pay more than 50k. I can back that up by looking at home values, if everyone made under 50k im pretty sure nobody would live in south Tampa

Good paying jobs are available to educated, qualified, experienced people. Do you have any of these traits, OP?

A third?

I assume you have some sort of concrete data to back up that wildly hyperbolic claim.

50K annually is 25 per hour for hourly employees. There are many places where you can make that much. A lot of those jobs however are filled. As also mentioned, being educated and having experience are also keys to your earning power.

Be careful on here for the Nay Sayers on here that say otherwise. But with a 'handle' of Student66, I am assuming your coming out of school from somewhere (High School, College, or a Tech School). Hard to make that kind of money without a specialty simply because a lack of experience.

Get your foot in the door, have a TREMENDOUS WORK ETHIC and move up the ladder. If you work hard and don't complain you're already better than 50% of the employees at most locations (MY OPINION ONLY).
