Hi All,

I'm really impressed with the quality of this forum. Thanks to everyone for providing great insights.

I am moving to Tampa area from Miami and looking to buy a 2+ bedroom, 2+ bath home. I am almost a professional tennis player, but not yet good enough to train for free at IMG Bollettieri or Saddlebrook Academy a la Tommy Haas / Sharapova at IMG Academies / John Isner at Saddlebrook. I've been to both academies, and without any observation of the surrounding areas, naturally Saddlebrook's resort scenery is preferable.

My question is as follows, any advice if I had to choose a location to settle that provides easy access to highways that I could have reasonable time to both academies? Wesley Chapel area there seem to be nice homes right at the $200,000 price point.

For you tennis players in Tampa, I am about a 5.5-6.0 NTRP, and if I stop playing and lose fitness I can drop to a 5.0 . Any advice on the tennis scene outside of these academies? What if they didn't exist, where I could I train? If you are a serious player.

I've seen photos of Clearwater beach which looks gorgeous. Also Tarpon Springs, being Greek, is probably a weekend attraction

Thanks

Riverview/Brandon/Apollo Beach are about smack in the middle of both facilities. IMG takes time because it is far from I75 and you have a lot of traffic to deal with.

There are several communities along US 301 that will fit your price for homes. Some of them are typical suburbia w/ cookie-cutter homes.

If you're going to be working while training, you'd have to consider that also, wouldn't you when deciding where to live?

You might consider asking the question in the Bradenton/Sarasota forum - might find a place closer to IMG like Lakewood Ranch.

Good luck.

If you're looking for alternate areas to work on your game: visit these links - might give some of the pros at these facilities a call and see what they recommend.

I have send you a PM since we have spend years at both facilities and have a lot of experience with tennis, traveling, practice at both places and are also in the real estate market and have personally met all players you mentioned in your OP.

I can recommend a person who was a player herself to hel you find what you need so you can focus on your tennis and perhaps even have you practice with some other tennis players in the area. After all you need some hitting partners.

Tennis pro accused of soliciting girl, 13, in Manatee released

what a disappointing, tragic thing for a person to do - and this guy's life will be forever tainted (as it should be). Sorry to hijack the thread - but can't believe that a guy that has so much would throw it away on a stunt like this.
