Hello,

I'm in my late 20's and I currently commute to Manhattan from Connecticut for work. My occupation is an investment banker for a prestigious investment firm.

Even though I love my job & the money, I hate the commute and the fast paced lifestyle here in the northeast. So, after talking with friends, I narrowed my choices down to Austin, Scottsdale, Tampa Bay, & San Diego.

Can someone please tell me how the dating scene is in Tampa Bay? I'm planning on living in St. Petersburg/Clearwater.

Also, what types of financial service positions are available in Tampa Bay? Does Tampa have any Fortune 100 companies headquartered in the city?

Thanks!

Tampa is a great place to live and work. Tampa has many large financial service companies. I know JPMC has some offices here they were recruiting me pretty hard. USAA has a large office here. Raymond James is HQ here along with a clearning house for the NYSE. I beleive there are only five of them it is a privte company that is directly connected to the NYSE I just can't renenber the name. I am in my late 20's as well and I just moved here from Orlando and I ma very impressed with the quailty of ladies that the Tampa area has to offer. Look at Hyde Park area, South Tampa, Thornton Park, Wesley Chapel. Come down for a visit before you make a decsion.

My favorite bar is http://www.macdintons.com/

YBOR City is comming around and has some great places to hang out as well. You will always have a good time at Cyote Ugly.

My secret for checking out what the locals are like is to check out Yahoo Personals just to see what the ladies look like....it gives you an idea.

Good luck

T Rowe Price is also putting there roots in here along HWY 54 just a couple miles from the Veterans Expressway. At your age, with the dating scene, I would lean more towards the City or the Beaches.

Come on Gulfer, this is from 2006. I think he's found out where to live by now and probably married and divorced already. LOL

I used to live in CT as well. I lived there from 2002-2008 (originally form Western Mass) Tampa is a great city. The thing though w/ CT vs Tampa - is public transportation. Did you take the metro north into the city? There is a good amount of traffic here and the streets aren't wide enough to handle all of it. Getting over the bridges at rush hour can take a long time!

I know you said St Pete/Clearwater - but if you do decide to come to Tampa and once you have a job lined up, I would recommend trying to find a job closer to your work. I would love to live in Clearwater or St Pete, but my husband works in Temple Terrace by I-75. That commute w/ traffic would be WAY to long. We're in Tampa Palms and it takes me about 30-35 mins to get to work w/ traffic.

The dating scene in Tampa? Simple. Act like many of the fake Tampa peeps and drive a Mercedes or BMW and pull into Jacksons and start flashing money and all the Tampa women will be interested in you. The difference is you are actually successful. Whereas most of the other fake dudes that frequent this place are driving Daddy's Car or are driving their leased BMW while still living at home with Mommy and Daddy. Tampa night life tries do very hard to be like south beach.
