My wife and I were in Tampa last weekend surveying where we want to live when we move down this summer. We saw soooo many excellent places and communities around the Land O Lakes, Lutz, Odessa and Westchase areas. Unfortunately some were out of our reach (Greyhawk was wonderful but about 100k out of reach for the homes we liked )

2 communities that appealed to us were Plantation Palms which has a golf course and Stonegate which is newer and still being built somewhat. Both gated (unmanned) and both had nice homes and everything was taken care of nicely.

I was looking for any information/experiences with these 2 communities if anyone has some they can share.

Thanks!

We live in Stonegate but are moving this summer to a horse ranch we own if we can sell the house.

I really enjoy living in Stonegate and am sad to be leaving but my husband is starting a business up in northern Florida. We own the Grand Bahama which is 4100 sq. ft. One of the biggest in Stonegate, but we have 4 kids. It's a nice quiet, well-landscaped community. There are many kids here but you don't always notice it. Other than for my kids and a few neighbors. lol.

There is a nice community pool which is beach entry, clubhouse and fitness center. There are talks about adding a tennis court or basketball court. The neighbors all seem friendly to me. I came from MA, so the yards are smaller than what I'm used to. The one thing I don't like, and this is with many gated communities are they are strict on what you can do in your yard. You have to get things approved(fence, playset, potted plants, fountains). Stonegate is very convenient to schools, shopping, restaurants, etc. Land O Lakes offers a great Rec. Center with all town sports. Baseball, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Football and more.

You may email me with questions. It could take a few days to respond as I don't check that account as often.

P.S. Is there a forum where you can post houses for sale?

Default Plantation palms is great

Stay out of Dupree Lakes built by Beazer homes. We bought there and not only are did we have tons of builder issues. The community is very shady at best. Several families have ran ran out of there. In addition to Beazer being a shady builder they have tons of consumer complaints.

We are actually selling our house in Stonegate due to my husband's job. We have lived here for 1 1/2 years now. Its a nice neighborhood. Well maintained. Lots of young families and kids. Also some older couples. We have a community pool/exercise center. Its a great location. Close to schools, shopping, highways. What is your price range? Do you have children?

We have 2 boys, 2 years old and almost 5 (starting kindergarten in the fall). We are looking around $275,000-$325,000 for 4 bedroom. Looking in Land O' Lakes, Odessa and Trinity areas so far.
