Imaginary or real it seems Oulson's wife and Reeves saw the same thing.
For real? Is there really a law for "sudden snatching"?

It was probably instinctual, rather than calculated. I have read accounts of soldiers leaning into gunfire, as if they were entering a driving rainstorm. This could also be an instinctual reaction.

Surely you have heard of gold chains being ripped off the necks of people, pocketbooks being taken from women by someone who runs up from behind them and grabs the bag and runs, people walking down the street and having their cell phone snatched out of their hands?

There is zero testimony that ever happened. It is not mentioned in any depositions or official documents.

"The registered nurse, Derek Friedhoff, who sat about 5 to 6 feet from Chad Oulson in the theater, testified that he heard bickering during the previews. As the conflict escalated, he said he saw Oulson's silhouette standing. He heard something being thrown and he heard Reeves say, "something along the lines of 'I'll teach you or I'll show you to throw popcorn at me' followed by a gunshot."

Ya, it could be a purse snatching or a necklace ripped off of a person etc.

(Edit: I just read Springs above post making almost same comment as mine, sorry for double post)

Did any of you guys actually read the statute, I guarantee you that the term "robbery by sudden snatching" never comes up, the defense lawyer knows that would get laughed out of court.

Interesting. Thx. However, it was not a "robbery" by sudden snatching. His intent was to give it back, which he did.....by throwing it at him......no? It seems like more of a "sudden borrowing" with a "sudden messy return of goods".

I haven't read there depositions but I did find this.

Witness Mark Douglas Turner, a 27 year Air Force Vet stated in testimony that Reeves said to Oulson, "Throw popcorn in my face."
Witness Alan Hamilton, an off-duty Sumter County deputy testified that Reeves said, "I'll teach you to throw popcorn at me," before shooting Oulson.
