Hello I never moved from state to state before as a civilian...

I am moving from Chicago in the next couple months. My plan is to drive down for about five days find a place then leave car fly back rent uhaul and drive back down .

Is this realistic? I am from Chicago but have been to Tampa three times in the past two years I like it and zoned in on Dunedin love honeymoon island.

It does not need to be perfect but would like building with friendly people little crime rent budget around 900 I am under 55 but have income I can show when I am down there for they five days when looking.

Should I make an appointment with an apartment agency or is there enough stuff where I can take chance and just drive down there for about five days and sign a lease in that period ?

I guess I can find something online but from my experience there is always better than what is on apartments or hot pads website.

You will struggle to find an agency that deals with a lot of rentals, but many advertise rentals on craigslist - be sure they are bona fide owners or agents though. $900 is close to lowest possible for a one bedroom in a good area.

Thanks for info. I put 900 budget because all I need is a studio or something small. The important thing is being in a nice building with good managemebt.

I plan on renting for one year while I look for a house and decide if Tampa us for me. So far Tampa is number one.
