Seems like a lot of money was spent not many years ago and they are tearing it down already.

The general concept of the Channelside Bay Plaza (I'll specify the Bay Plaza because the entire area of Channelside plays a role in this) was created to give people who chose to live in Channelside a cool little area to hang out in. An Ybor of Downtown, if you will. Well, the plaza was built, and the condos and apartments started going in, and BAM! The housing market collapses. The entire idea of Channelside was gone in an instant. Without people living near the plaza, they were then praying that people from the Lightning games and cruise ships would keep it afloat. If you've been recently, you'd see that they've barely been keeping it afloat. There's never anybody there! This is what makes Vinik's plan so exciting. We'll finally get to see what Channelside was supposed to be.
