Hello,
My bf and I are considering making a move from Philly to Tampa area. Interested in being about 30-60mins outside of Tampa. Beach town, downtown area would be nice. We will be renting. Job situation is already taken care of so pretty flexible.

Any suggestions on places in that general area for mid-twenties couples?

Where are the jobs. Any recommendation needs to consider commute. You'll not want to go crosstown, over bridges unless it's the Skyway, twice a day.....

Most of the nice twenty age hangouts are in South Tampa, Downtown St Pete. But 30-60 minutes you will be with older family crowds. Try Wesley Chapel or West Chase. The beach on average is 45 minutes from Downtown Tampa. St Pete downtown maybe 30 minutes from beach.

If money isn't an object, I'd rent downtown ST Pete.

Sounds like you've already gotten good suggestions. I moved here from the Philly area five years ago. Best of luck to you.

Being in Wesley Chapel will mean being stuck in high-density suburbs with any beach over an hour away.

The Tampa Bay / Wesley Chapel area is growing so fast the roads can't keep up. So congestion is a major problem along major routes entering / leaving the area, which can make a trip to the coast a long process.

I would also recommend the St. Pete area for what you're looking for.

36 minutes to get to Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs on a weekend from Wesley Chapel. Do it almost every weekend. Takes us about an hour and ten minutes to get to Anna Maria.

For sure, it doesn't take an hour to get to A beach, but it depends on what KIND of beach they want.

Wesley Chapel is suburbia, and they should consider that. Wesley Chapel/New Tampa is ripe with families with stickers on the backs of the crossovers and minivans, and lots of traffic at peak times. I have yet to see groups of twenty somethings turn to Welsey Chapel/New Tampa unless it's college students that don't want to live near USF.
