That is not incorrect.

Technically, you can not sell a car that you don't own. Some lease agreement may and some may not even allow you to sell.

That's what I was thinking.

But as has been pointed out, even if the OP was looking try and do this dance with buying out the lease and selling the vehicle to Carmax, it would probably be at a loss.

And don't forget, if you buy the car at the end of the lease, you will get the car titled and pay tax on the value & other fees. KBB puts the value around 18k so plan to have another 1400 or so wrapped up in it. Could you sell it for 20 to make any money on it?

I would turn the car in at the end of the lease and then go get the Subaru.

How are you going to get anything without the title. If you buy it outright from your lease, it will take more than 7 days to get a title

So much bad information in this thread from people who have no knowledge and have taken no time to research. Let me help you with that.

You don't own a vehicle that's financed, yet you can easily sell it by paying off the debtor. Leasing is no different. Refer to link in message above.

From the link that you posted

Quote:

In most cases, you can sell your leased car to CarMax in almost the same way as any other financed car, according to the company. It will appraise the car or truck, then contact the leasing company for a payoff quote and process any equity you might have. CarMax notes that it's important to check your lease agreement for details. Some don't permit such sales.
So much in researching and not actually reading the link they posted themselves....

Dude - the question was in regards to specific model and responses were in same kind. Have you reviewed if Hyundai Motor Finance (leasing arm) allows? Guess you didn't as they do.... Thanks for playing.
