Anyone know of ANY... I mean even just one... "New Mexican" restaurant in the Tampa area? Anywhere... doesn't matter.

And I don't mean a "new" Mexican restaurant, but a "New Mexican" restaurant... e.g. the more ethnic / native American style food from New Mexico and Arizona.

Desperate... please let me know... typing New Mexican Restaurant into Google in any combination just returns Mexican restaurants.

Thank you!!!

Describe the food. Name some dishes. Just so that I (we) know specifically what you're looking for...

CHILES RELLENOS
CARNE ADOVADA
HUEVOS RANCHEROS
BLUE CORN
TAMALES
RED CHILE ENCHILADAS
Bottom line, it's food that is culturally predominant in New Mexico, Arizona, and parts of Utah. Essentially, it's far more Native American than it is Mexican.

Hah... this is the problem, no one has ever heard of it when you're from the East Coast (like me). As I mentioned above, it's more Native American than it is Mexican. It shares some dishes with Mexican cuisine, but it is VERY different in that the food is more organic, food is never fried, and they use hatch chilis for most dishes. They also use a lot of honey and red / green chili sauce. It's generally more spicy than Mexican food, but a lot healthier... and tastes way better.

Hah, what you say isn't logical.

I'm Argentine, and there are dozens of Argentine restaurants in Florida. As there are Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Indonesian, Thai, French, Italian, even "Hawaiian," and many others. Why would "New Mexican" somehow be the exception?

Florida is the most significant melting pot on this planet right now, it is considered the Monaco of the United States (Miami is), and there are more cultures and diversity in Florida than literally anywhere else in the world.

There has GOT to be a New Mexican restaurant... I know of one in Northern Virginia (Anita's New Mexican Restaurant) which has two of them... I just need to find it, and Google / Bing can't seem to differentiate, even when I encapsulate New Mexico in quotes.

Well, there may be something somewhere, but it would probably just be billed under "Mexican." And there are dozens of Mexican places in and around Tampa. Good luck!
