Is Riverview a good area? (Low crime and great schools)

It’s mostly low crime and okay schools. There are better places in my opinion. If you want to live in eastern Hillsborough look into Fishhawk.

It was rough back in the early 80's.

Schools are meh. The crimes here tend to be convenient ones, an unlocked car gets stuff taken or the car itself taken (I highly recommend using your garage), unlocked house doors, stuff left outside stolen.

The big issue here is too many people, not enough infrastructure. Traffic can be bad.

In general, yes. Schools are decent, there are better schools in the county though. If public schools are your top option then you may want to look towards Fishhawk, parts of Citrus Park (zoned for Northwest Elementary and Steinbrenner HS), or parts in the northern part of the county or New Tampa.

Wanted to get an update on Riverview. Has the infrastructure caught up at all or is traffic an issue? Is there a "better" or "worse" part of Riverview to live in traffic-wise? Any other issues to consider when looking in RIverview? Thanks

Not yet.

They are still working on changing the I75 on/off ramps.
They are building new potable water pump stations. (water pressure is an issue)
They are building a new middle school (I think - I don't have young kids).

But they are still building houses, apartments and townhomes like crazy.

Where is good depends on where you need to go. Right now, commuting to downtown tampa for work will take 45+ minutes on a good day. I75, the Selmon, 301 are the main ways out of the area. All are busy, with mornings being bad and late afternoons being worse.

Schools are hit or miss. Be careful and do your due diligence in picking out an area to live. Also be aware that there is some major redistricting in the works right now that involves this area as well, so what attendance zone your address is in today might not be the same in another year.

Traffic is hellish, and that's being kind. If you work from home this isn't an issue, but if you commute or have to go out on a regular basis, be prepared.

Infrastructure has not and will not catch up for many, many years. Learn to deal with it or find another place to live.
