I also envisioned it to be kind of an “alternative” district in comparison to polished downtown Tampa and channel side. But clearly my logic was flawed and I payed the price for it. I’ve since moved out.
Did you find what you were looking for? Where would you say are the more artsy communities?
I'm looking to relocate to the Tampa area from Long Island/NYC area.

Downtown Saint Pete is pretty artsy, that might be the best fit for you

That place would be waaaaay down on the list for me.

No I never lived in St. Pete. Personally I looked over there and while I liked some of the establishments, I didn't really resonate with the overall vibe.

I would say downtown St. Pete would fit the bill

I agree, one has to see for themselves. People can have very different definitions of what they consider to be "artsy." Examples: Folksy artsy, funky graffiti artsy, bohemian artsy or just plain ol' artsy fartsy. IMO, St. Pete has the bohemian artsy vibe. Again, one needs to visit to see if it connects with them or not.

Thanks all for the recommendations. Of course I would check it all out. Very difficult to move from living in a place you love and have lived your whole life.
