Hello everyone,

I am debating about taking a month-to-month small cottage rental located on North Albany Avenue that is renting for $800 a month. I saw it on Craig's List but I don't know the area at all. So that's my first concern, what the neighborhood is like in terms of safety for myself (age 64) and dog.

I have been to Tampa in the past because I have a cousin living there. I'm currently in central North Carolina but at a juncture in life where a lot of life situations have shown me it's time to make a change, and one I want to do this summer. I'm debating between the Tampa area (only because I have this one cousin there and I'm alone), or returning to the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, where I lived previously.

I'm originally from Coral Gables, FL, but that city is out of the question for I couldn't afford it since when I lived there I was growing up, and my parents are long gone.

Frankly, I didn't like Tampa but think maybe it would work having someone there - I have no family. When I lived in Cleveland, it was the suburbs. I didn't like the cold but the time I was there was when I first lost my parents. I did enjoy the area otherwise.

Maybe Tampa is better now though since my last visit in 2013. I do know of course that there are lots of wonderful beaches not far away.

So does anyone know the neighborhood where I'm thinking of pursuing the month to month rental?

Honestly Tampa isn’t all that different now than it was in 2013.
