Hello All,

I am moving to Tampa very soon. I am looking for weekend filmmaking workshops or evening courses in Tampa. I checked few websites as well but did not find anything informative.

Thanks in advance.

Try the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center
www.tbpac.org

I am not sure what they offer, but they may have something you need.

Hello guys,
Thank you so much for your responses. Tampa Bay Performing Arts is more into dance and performing arts. Creative Tampa Bay seems to be an interesting community. But still I think they may not be into filmmaking. I checked websites of FMPTA as well as Weekend Film Workshop. The later has a workshop on scriptwriting in Septemeber'08 which seems really helpful. But I am not sure if being a member of FMPTA will help me learn filammaking as I am not related to that industry. Fimmaking is something I want to actively pursue. As a first step towards it I need some formal education which I want to gain through workshops and short courses along with doing my job and then working on a part-time basis in independent fimmaking.

Please let me know if anyone can suggest something in this scenario...

Thanks once again.

In Tampa...

Again, check into University of South Florida, I know several people that graduated and took studies in Filmmaking at the school.

Maybe , Hillsborough Community College...

The Art Institute of Tampa and International Academy of Design and Technology I believe may offer Filmmaking courses.

All I know is from a friend. Her nephew just moved to Orlando to do much of what you're asking. I'd suggest you expand your search (maybe post in the Orlando forum) and see if you get anything else. Tampa and Orlando are within commuting distance (on weekends...I wouldn't want to do it every day but I'm sure some do).
