Months ago St Rd. 54 was so terrible to be on specially during rush hour but even during other times it was mostly a headache to be on there and you never knew how much time it would take to get from Morris Bridge to I-75.

I'm not sure what the reason is but IMO it could be that since the construction of new homes has almost come to a stand still, most illegal construction workers have moved away....after they lost their jobs, many started to mow lawns and you would see car after car with a trailer behind it with mowing equipment. Now they are selling the mowing equipment next to the road on 54!

The other reason IMO is that many people had their car taken by repo (in my neighborhood many people are driving smaller cars and have less cars in their driveway which has solved the parking issue) , so that means less carson 54as well.

The last reason is that many homes are empty due to foreclosures and no home owners with cars means also less traffic on St Rd 54....so I guess the county doesn't need so much property tax money for the improvements for the roads anymore........

Default still too many cars

I hear what you are saying, but I don't think it has made a dent in the rush hour traffic. I do think many people must not work on mondays and fridays any more, as those are light traffic days for the most part. It is enjoyable to leave for work at 7am on a saturday! Talk about a low stress commute!

Still, there are too many cars for a 2 lane rd. If there is a wreck on I 75 the whole area comes to a halt, there are not enough options for commuters.

I hear you! Some people only know how to be so close behind you so they can read you tag....I don't know any other reason for driving so close behind some one else, and than some one in front of you uses their brakes...and again...traffic jam...just because some A$$ can't keep distance...which would avoid so many accidents on this road.

^agree. It also doesn't help that most people that do that are either a) talking on a cell phone, b) lighting up a cigarette, c)have their arm up on the passenger headrest like they're sitting on a couch watching a movie at home, or d)engaged in conversation with their passenger who they feel a need to maintain eye contact with while they drive. Idiots! Gawsh! (Done in a Napoleon Dynamite type of tone)
