Hi everyone,
We are a young, professional family with 2 young kids looking for a great family friendly neighborhood near the beach. We love old, historic homes (no cookie cutter suburbia for us) and would like to be able to walk to the beach. We currently live in Jupiter (very safe, laid back beach town in Palm Bch county). My husband is an attorney and I stay home with the kids ages 4 and 6 mos. Can anyone suggest good neighborhoods for us? I was looking online and found really cool houses in old southeast st. pete but was quickly told that was not safe. PLEASE HELP! Our price range would be $200-$350k. Somewhere around there.
Thanks for your time!!

I would recommend looking at the beaches on the west site of St. Pete., in the areas of Redington Beach, Madiera Beach and treasure Island. Since the real estate market is bust right now there are a bunch of nice "older" places a few streets off of the beach in your price range. Stuff on the water is still millions, but there are a lot of places that are within walking distance. The three areas I mentioned still have that "old beach town" feel to them, unlike St. Pete where congestion makes it a mad house.

I would recommend going out to Real Estate, Homes for Sale - Zillow and zooming in on the area. They will show you the houses for sale on a map with links to the house info. Its a real quaint area devoid of all the modern chaos. Also, staying near the water will save you from the hot and humid miserable Summer temps the rest of the area gets hit with.
