Hi. Right now my husband and I live in South Tampa but he wants to move to the Town and Country area to be closer to his 11 yr old son who lives with the ex-wife. I have heard that T & C is now a bad gang area and not a desirable place to live. He insists that it looks fine and wants to move within the next few months. If anyone knows about that area, please help.

I don't have any first-hand knowledge but you can look at the crimetracker info. I think T & C zip is 33615? Have you been up there to look things over? It may be helpful to drive around the area during work hours and then again over the weekend and also at night to get a "feel" for the neighborhoods... see who's hanging around and what's going on.

This one has a really cool graphic that shows the different types of crimes, so you can see the "clustering" in certain areas. Go down to the Archive section on the left.

If the links get nixed I can PM you with the addys.

HI, I don't mean to put a damper on things and I don't feel like I am a very negative person, but for what it's worth you're right. I have lived in the town n country area as well as South Tampa. I definitely gotten broken into more times in South Tampa than I ever have hear, but things have definitely changed. I live in an old neighborhood called Pat Acres. It is a very well estabished nice neighborhood, but on our very next street is the kids you are talking about. Two kids have gotten killed, a cop got shot at in broad daylight and I honestly see them run through our neighborhood during the day. We have a very nice home here and our parents live fairly close, but if it gets any worse around here we are definitley not staying.
I also am very good friends with an under cover detective that tells me all the time how he lives in our area, because it's number one for drugs and gangs!
If I were you all and wanted to move around the town n country area, I would move around Country Way or Gunn Highway and beyond. Waters and Hanley definitely would NOT be the area.

Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE TO THE KIRMAN/CONROY AREA IN ORLANDO.

It has gone to hell, it's become a hub for trashy people, illegal aliens packing 10 people in a 1 bedroom apt, and drug dealers.

You will pay like $1,200/mo to live in hell.

Yes, Town and Country LOOKS good, but have you not heard that saying... you know it goes like this: "DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER"?

Read about what the RESIDENTS there are saying. That place is hell, you pay a lot and it sucks!

Summergal...I think the poster was talking about the Town and County area of Tampa.

Town and Country is older area now, I would look at Citrus Park area, or Oldsmar to be near your stepson. They are growing and offer more than then the old town and country, It has turned to mostly spanish neighborhoods, and poor area, which I guess why we see crime in poor areas. Stay away from hanley and waters areas of town and country i have heard this before.

We live off of Hillsborough west of town and country. It's not to bad, I feel safe. The traffic is bad, but I think that is everywhere. Oldsmar is a nice area to, that is just west of us.

Not to take away from the seriousness of this question, but it does crack me up how bad neighborhoods in FL have upscale sounding names! Trying to imagine gangs in these places: "The Town N Country Bloods", the "Riviera Beach Loco Mafia Boys". One of my favorites was down in Miami when I lved there in the 60s: "Grand Avenue" was the name of the main drag of the second worst ghetto (after the CND, today known as "Overtown") in the city.
