hello,
I was looking into the Palm Harbor area for relocation. Which neighborhoods/ areas are nice and family oriented? Also we will need excellent schools for our kids. Is there any area I should avoid? Husband will probably have to commute a bit to work. We are from NJ originally. Other area we were looking at was Lutz which aslo looks great. Thanks a bunch.

The East Lake area of Palm Harbor along East Lake Rd. has a lot of great family oriented communities. I would look at East Lake Woodlands(technically in Oldsmar), Tarpon Woods, and Lansbrook. Lots of restaurants, shopping, parks, lakes, beaches, athletic fields and amenities nearby. The schools are good, most in the area lead into East Lake High or Palm Harbor Univ. High. The area is extremely safe.

Trinity a large communty a few miles up the road in Pasco County is also very nice and very family oriented.

Considering the same thing...a move from the midwest to Palm Harbor. Lived in Clearwater years ago (sans kids), now have two Kindergartners. Seems to be a wash between Cypress & Brooker Creek, as far as Elementary schools. What about Lake St George? Also looks like a wash between PHU & East Lake High, but what about the middle school system; Palm Harbor vs Tarpon?? I see that the line for school zone cuts right thru Lansbrook (Robinwood). Letting the schools (& proximity to Homeport Marina!!) pick our location pretty much, commute is not an issue. I realize schools & zones change over time, & we have several years to watch it all play out, but we want to stay put for the next 15 years & want to make a decision we can live with long term. We're leaving a FANTASTIC school system here in the Chicago suburbs & are trying to replicate the quality as best we can in the Tampa Bay area. Thanks for any thoughts.

The Eastlake area is very nice as previously mentioned.

Lutz and Palm Harbor are not close together. Would your job be located in Palm Harbor?

I live in Trinity and we love it here. Nice new elementary schools here if your children are of that age.

Lake Valencia in Palm Harbor is one of my favorite neighborhoods. Lake St. George is an excellent elementery school. I prefer the Athenian Academy of Pinellas, it's a charter school. It's the first Greek immersion in the USA. Smaller classes, excellent staff. Lansbrook is nice however ther is a cut off for the schools. You don't want your kids going to Tarpon Springs schools. Boot Ranch is another nice community. Palm Harbor IS the most expensive zip code in Pinellas county, so be prepared to pay if you move here.
