And as for where you people should move, try San Diego or other parts of California. That describes life here. Smart educated diverse progresive liberal fun people.

I am beginning to think I wont find that in Fl. either so I think I will just saty in Ca,

Life seems much better here.
Aw, come on, this is a message board. You are always going to have certain kinds of predictable behavior from people who are mostly posting anonymously. It runs the gamut from the polite and very helpful, to the downright spiteful and mean. I've learned to expect a certain amount of both on any message board (and at least this place is moderated so that things never get very far out of hand).

So far, I've had some great advice from people who live in Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg, so much so, that I am seriously considering moving there. I will be making a trip to the area later this year to check things out "on the ground."

No one place in the world has it all, but you just keep looking until you find the place that "rings the right bells" for you. (And I've got a friend who lives in San Diego who is just dying to get out of there as he does not like the people. And look at me, I moved to Seattle ten years ago and now have finally decided that I can no longer stand the weather here, even though I really like the people in this city).

To each, their own.

Firsttimeowner: I am that guy who made the stupid comment about spelling. You might be more educated and worldly than me, that was not the point I was trying to make.

I am sorry that you took it the wrong way. I don't really care that much about spelling in general. The only reason I commented on robsjump's spelling was because he was referring to a French philosopher: Jacques Derrida. I don't know if you ever tried to read Derrida, but to put it mildly, it is rather obscure and a lot of snobs like to drop his name in conversations to look cool. So, I was just being a little facetious towards robsjump who mis-spelled "disScussing Derrida". Otherwise, I perfectly understand that everyone writes quickly on these boards (including myself) and can make mistake.

You might also want to try Davis Island or Gulfport. I prefer Davis Island.

What's it like to live in Tampa Bay? I don't know, ask a fish! It's probably wet and hard to breathe.

End of conversation.
Hey guy, you okay? Care and share hon, care and share; I'm a she btw. To answer your question, it's better to have conversations with people who won't feign indignation over...well...nothing. If you disagree about Tampa, explain it to the original poster, but the whole 'Omg Snob! You can't spell so I win, Snob!' thing, ehh. The nice lady specifically described a set of criteria that some residents feel do not characterize the city of Tampa. Or have I just imagined the hand wringing over sprawl, brain-drain, and revitalization?

But, you got me. I named dropped Derrida to show off my "obscure" knowledge, not because the original poster's criteria mentioned education, specifically in the context of universities, and Derrida's ideas are so ubiquitous that most of the random 'theory-class-so-non-majors-can-get-their-liberal-arts-credit' courses bring him up. That's all there was to it. I almost typed Marx because of the same phenomenon. Would that have been snobbery? Jesus.
