I think the best mall is International Plaza, 2nd would be Citrus Park Town Center. As for things to do, depends on what interests you guys... theres always things like the Florida Aquarium or Splitsville (which are in Channelside), Adventure Island/Busch Gardens, Big Cat Rescue... tons of museums, the Tampa Theater, SoHo, Seminole Hard Rock Casino, Tampa Improv (in Ybor). Theres lots to do just depends on what youre up for

^^ Thanks is there anything besides those attractions which I stated in my question? Preferably in the downtown area which is where I'll be going from Channelside to Ybor.

i second the international mall: upscale shopping with designer stores, plus they have a mac store that is always packed

if you are confined to tampa proper, especially only downtown, i think youll be in a tough spot overall, but close by near ybor is cafe hey (they have a myspace), this is a heavy hipster hang-out, i cant stand em, so i stay away mostly, but i hear the food is good, and sometimes they have ok art, and a good 100 people may show up to see it. hyde park village and soho is nearby downtown as well, with a bit of shopping, though i think its loosing its ground.

i recommend going over to downtown st pete or to downtown dunedin, bars, music, art, museums, etc, etc

i say, rent a kayak or a bike (pinellas trail), and youll show your girl a good time, good luck!

If you want to cap off the day, you can always do a dinner cruise out of channelside. Great food, Dancing and romantic sunset views on the water are always good for a few brownie points.

Some other unique to Tampa - you can now rent bikes downtown Tampa, take a nice ride along Bayshore Blvd, go to Rome Avenue, and cruise the Hyde Park historic district streets and homes, stop off in Hyde Park Village for a cool drink at an outdoor cafe.

Or take a nice walk along the downtown Riverwalk from the Convention Center area to Channelside, stop off at the Columbia Cafe at the Tampa History Center for some great Mojitos outside along the Channel and a Cuban sandwhich.

Though not totally unique to Tampa, taking a Segway tour around downtown will give you a different perspective and appreciation...and it's really fun! Check out Magic Carpet Glide dot com.

You should have a cuban sandwich and spanish bean soup at carmine's or another cuban joint in ybor. It's a tampa classic.
