My husband, 7-year old son and I will be moving to FL this July. I will be working in St. Pete Beach and I'm looking For suggestions on neighborhoods. Some if the things we are looking for in a neighborhood are:

1-cultural diversity: in the neighborhood and elementary school
2-good schools (my son has ADHD so if anyone has any suggestions on schools that would be helpful)
3-we'd like to rent a 3br/2ba home for $1200-1300/month
4-30 minute or less commute to St. Pete Beach
5-obviously saftey is important as well
6-since we will be new to area and have no family we'd like to live In a family friendly neighborhood where we will be able to make friends

THANK YOU for any info!

West side of St. Pete has good options and is close by St. Pete Beach (10 min). Jungle Prada, Azalea, Live Oaks, Lake Pasadena- all good neighborhoods.

Schools not so good in all those areas though. If you are looking at public, then look at Seminole area, about 20mins commute from downtown St Pete - parts of the beaches are within that school district, (part of) Indian Rocks, Indian Shores and N. Redington Beach, but check first before signing a lease.
I look after a rental that is $1500/mo and it's nice - so there are some out there probably in your range, with the resale market in condos on the beach not good, many owners are taking rentals til times get better. Good luck to you with the move.

Thank you for the info, I'll be looking into those neighborhoods. Does anyone know how traffic
is along Gulf Blvd? I saw a rental house in Seminole and the driving directions said basically south on gulf blvd for approx 14 miles. I've driven on Gulf Blvd when I interviewed and seems like it would be a pain in rush hour.

Thanks!

The traffic is bad anywhere in the Tampa area.

Gulf Blvd is seasonal, snowbirds in winter, beach bunnies in summer.

Why not just live in St Pete Beach? or a little to the east Treasure Island or next community north Madeira Beach. Although the traffic is never what i'd call bad once you get onto Gulf Blvd the speed limit is 35mph and cops are usually looking for customers.
