My last district was so lax. I don't know if they still are or not, I was a stay at home mom for 10 years and have just gone back to work.
But this district, OY! 5 evaluations this year. FIVE! Yes, I am new to the district and that is part of it. But the eval is so detailed. The person stays for 45 min. to 1 full hour and evaluates you on multiple things with a very detailed rubric.
In my last district they literally would pop their heads into my room, listen for 5-10 min., give me the thumbs up, and walk out. And voila! Excellent review. Now, granted, I learned the three rules to getting a stellar review early on:
1. Don't file any grievances with the union or complain about your admin.
2. Show up on time every day so no one has to cover for you
3. Don't send many kids out as it shows you can't control your class
Seriously, I have lived by those rules throughout my career and it has stood me in good stead.
I have been late two days in 18 years of working. Once because my carpool buddy was late. That ticked me off. And once because I got into a car accident. In fact, I showed up 2 hours later and they made me leave. I was 7 or 8 months pregnant and they were like, "What are you doing here? Go see the doctor and make sure you are ok!" I assured them I was but they wanted me to be sure. So I went straight up to get checked out. The doctor even said I shouldn't have gone to work......oops. I was off for 2 additional days to keep my feet up and then it was the weekend. I was fine!
Oh, I had a parent screaming that I be fired because I DARED to take her son's cell phone that she paid for. I don't touch phones. It gets noted in my evaluation that I fail to police cell phone use but given the climate at my school WRT me taking phones and the responsibility I'd be taking on I'll take the demerit.

How many days after the last day with students do you need to go back to school for wrap up stuff?
This year we have to go back for two. I'm going to miss both because I'm taking my Girl Scouts to Yellowstone.
How many do I need? I could get by with none.
How many do we have scheduled? Two. The students finish June 23, but we are scheduled for the 26th and 27th. If I am lucky my principal will check us out early.

We have 34 days with kids. We only have to come in for one day after the kids are done as long as we have everything in order to check our rooms out. I don't know if my room will still be mine next year so I have to remove everything from the room and then put it back in the fall. It's a pain.
I'm jealous on that 19 day thing BTW. I'm still too far from the end to be excited. It's probably time to start looking for a summer job though. Last year I found paid training which was cool. This year I'm gonna have to work. The last step increase given in my school was the year before I arrived. I'm broke.
