I think it would be great to teach physics or math one day or afternoon a week at a high school and have a 'normal' job for the rest of the week. Is such a thing possible?

I know it's possible at the college level (2 days actually) as some peers at work do it.
What would the kids do the other 4 days though in HS ?

You might have better luck at the college level as you can find classes that are not 5 days a week.

You might considering tutoring one or two days a week -- either through the school or through a private tutoring company. Otherwise, yeah, it'd be difficult to work out a schedule where the kids are with you just one afternoon/week.

Tutoring is your best option. In my area, tutors (college grads) can make $20 - $30 an hour tutoring.

that is really not a possibility in public schools for so many reasons--
tutoring might be--but to be in the classroom even as a volunteer in my district a person needs to go through most of the same background checks as someone being hired for a job---
