One of the best days of the year is when they announce that the Tennessee General Assembly has gone home. Well, at least the ones that haven't been charged with a major felony.

What's next a national ID for cough syrup? I find it funny that they exempted everyone else but stores. Do they think bartenders etc are smarter than people working in stores?

It's just a CYA for businesses. If they follow the law that they check everyone, then they are covered and can blame it on the individual employee who failed to check. Think Donald Trump "You're fired!".

Yes, this is the most brain dead legislation to come down the pike in a long time. It is also highly offensive to those of us that can't remotely pass for an under 21 year old.

As bad as the new law is, most major supermarkets were all ready doing this on their own initiative, mainly because the idiots running Blount County enacted their own version of this nonsense some time ago. Apparently, corporate America can't have different rules for their employees in different counties, so they extended the practice statewide. The first time it happened to me, they got to put my entire grocery cart back on the shelf, and I took my business elsewhere. I also boycotted that store (Food City) until all the rest of the chains started doing it.

So much for "conservative" Tennessee.
