We are too are looking at possibly moving to Tennessee. Interested in lakeside communities. Are there any nice upscale developments around Douglas Lake?

Are there other lakeside communities/developments in the Knoxville vicinity we should consider?

Realtors are welcome to PM me here.

Thank you.

Tennessee National
Cove At Blackberry Ridge

You can Google these.

Tennessee National is in Loudon County near Loudon. It may even be in the city limits. The Cove At Blackberry Ridge is in Roane County but is closer to Loudon that any other town.

Both are new upscale waterfront developments near us. They are on Watts Bar reservoir (Tennessee River), which doesn't get the serious draw down that occurs to Douglas Lake and some others. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on Douglas.

If you like, I can PM you the names of of a couple of reputable and competent realtors for Roane and Anderson counties. There are plenty of the other kind, so watch out.

We had a lakefront lot (couple of acres) on Douglas. We ended up selling due to TVA frequently taking the lake down (primary reason) and just getting to our place through the tourist traffic (we were coming from Knoxville through Pigeon Forge to get there) was a hassle. If we were living there full time the traffic consideration would go away, however, we didn't like being mudfront instead of lakefront half of the year. Loudon seems to go down less and I am not sure about Norris and Watts Bar. There are great lakefront developments all around here. There are a couple of realtors that specialize in lakefront, it might be good to hook up with one of them. Kind regards and good luck in your search. It is gorgeous here to be on the water with the backdrop of the mountains

Norris gets drawn down, too. Watts Bar and Loudon don't get it nearly as bad. Both have minimum navigation channel depth requirements, which keeps TVA from drawing too much water out of them.

You can go to the TVA web site to find a lot of information on their reservoir management practices, including management plans and data for individual reservoirs.
