Here are some photos of downtown Dandridge and the Douglas Dam which is near Sevierville but is it actually in Sevierville? I don't know but it's a pretty area and once you get off that main drag in Sevierville the outlying area is rural and nice, in my opinion. Saw lots of farms.

Was in Cocke, Jefferson and Sevier counties yesterday (10/10/07). Everything is still green.

You are toooo much, Tinman!

I am so impressed LauraC with the photos. My husband and I were in Sevierville about 8 years ago and your shots really have captured the area. Just beautiful.

Glad you liked them. The look of that main drag in Dandridge reminded me of Hampton Bays, NY as I remember it from 15 years ago (except HB is flat and Dandridge is not).

I learned something, too. Sevierville is not French for "under construction."

Went to Walters State Community College in Sevierville, too. At the Sevierville campus they offer programs in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management and Professional Entertainment. They did a demonstration for us and made us brunch and told us all about the Culinary Arts program ( students, the instructors, the classes. etc.). It was really interesting. Apparently, the area of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, etc. is a good place for a school with these kinds of programs.

The Sevierville campus is expanding because of the demand for graduates from the culinary arts program and anyone who is interested in going to a culinary arts school should look into it. They'll have one building for cooking and another for baking with all new state of the art equipment/technology. The new building will be done in time for the semester that starts in January. If you already have a degree, you can go for a certificate in culinary arts which means you don't have to take the English, social science, etc., classes that the degree students have to take in addition to the culinary arts classes. Since it's a state community college, in-state tuition is relatively cheap.

Laura,
You captured the charm of Dandridge perfectly. Last summer a favorite thing for Bill and I to do was sit on the front porch of Smokie's BBQ and eat and just enjoy Dandridge.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics, LauraC. I have never seen Dandridge, and it's now on my list of weekend trips I'd like to take. Charming! I searched for images on flickr.com, and there were some really nice ones. I love all of those old tall, narrow 2-story homes and businesses downtown.
