I just wanted to post a HUGE and thanks to the people of this board!

I have been searching through several states over the past year trying to narrow down a place that we could relocate with our family. During our search we have investigated North, East and West of the U.S. and have yet to find ANYONE even remotely close to being as genuinely friendly, helpful, and welcoming than those from Tennessee!

It is really sad when you look at it in the way that I have been searching for over a year and can only come up with one place to seriously consider. I don't know what it is about those from Tennessee, but people outside this state lack that genuine warmth, humanity, southern charm...whatever you want to call it. I'm just glad we kept searching and found this wonderful place to eventually call home.

Unfortunately now when all the other people looking to relocate realize how special the people of Tennessee are, they will be flocking to be part of such a wonderful community of people

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you that have taken time to say "Hi, Welcome, Can we help?, Check this out, Visit when you get settled" etc...you truely have made a difficult decision much more enjoyable.

We can't wait to visit and hopefully soon find our home

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. Tennesseans are indeed an incredible group of people.

For the past five years we have been very lucky that Tennesseans have welcomed me, my husband and daughter.

I fretted about the word getting out the first couple of years that we were here and people coming in droves, but it really hasn't happened. Granted, the recession put a damper on things, but there is more to it than that. I am firmly convinced that the friendly folks that love people are attracted to this state and the ones that are just looking for a low-cost-of-living do not stay. I don't know. I think there is something about mean people not liking all of that friendliness and kindness. We tend to get on their nerves and they move on.

Pity. Not.

Good for you, Mom of Angels. There are still good and friendly people in Tennessee. When/if you ever run into unfriendly ones, it is usually they aren't from Tennessee.

Just make your trips to Tennessee to make your final decisions.

And some of our helpful posters are future Tennesseans. TN attracts some of the nicest people.

M o A... so glad you feel that way. I've found that most people we have met here in person have been every bit as helpful and friendly. The friendliness we found the moment we stopped in TN was what brought us back. We met friendly and helpful people all over this county as we tried to decide where we really wanted to live the most. It just wasn't as universal feeling in many of those places. I think it was the fact that everyone, from kids with their moms in the supermarket, clerks at the small stores and gas stations, complete strangers on line, the real estate agent.... every single person we met was polite and friendly. We were amazed at the 'stop sign tango' where people actually waited their turn, and love the lack of constant horn blowing.

I'm hoping you'll have a chance to see it in person now. Welcome!

One reason that made a big impression on me... Most not all... the people I have meet in Tennessee & on this board.. have a great.... "RESPECT"... of other people and the land they walk upon. One reason for me moving to Tennessee as soon as possible.. I think in the past 4+ years and my outings I have only encountered a couple of grumpy people..every one has a bad day now and then..

We lived in the northeast for years, and I really loved it there. When my husband took a transfer to TN, I cried and didn't want to leave. It's been a little over 2 years, and I have to say that I really enjoy living in Chattanooga. I had lived in Memphis for about 18 months years ago, and I didn't enjoy it that much. Also, I was reared in MS, and I hated it. I was afraid that wouldn't like Chatt either. However, it's been a very positive experience. The natives and most transplants are quite lovely. I have met quite a few folks from Atlanta that were not pleasant, but I think that is a reflection of them, not Atlanta. There is more diversity in ethnicity and ideology than I expected, and I don't regret the move.
