Crossville, Committee sends wheel-tax subject to full commission.

$25 wheel-tax would raise approximately $1.5 million annually for school system.

Cumberland County commissioners on the budget committee decided to place a wheel-tax resolution in the amount of $25 per vehicle on the November commission meeting's agenda.

If approved by the full county commission, the wheel-tax would be a referendum placed on the February 2008 ballot so the voting public could decide for themselves weather or not they would be willing to pay the extra tax to help raise funds for Cumberland County schools.

The referendum would be written specifically so that all of the funds generated would go to the Cumberland County School System.

So the $25 would be on top of your current tags? If so what is the current tag price for Cumberland County?......

I believe it's 25.00 just like Putnam countys is now. Here in Putnam county it's 25 for any vehicle from a car to a RV.

Washington county either does, or has just voted to appropriate one... I don't really follow that news, as my tags aren't in Washington. It was $50 I think.
