Can you please expand on how it is and or the mindset of the law enforcement there? You can DM me if you need to. Thanks
The huge majority of law enforcement around the country are Conservative, support gun rights, and vote Republican... especially in the South.

I've never heard of a DL checkpoint. DUI checkpoints do happen, and agencies are required by law to warn the public of the checkpoint locations beforehand (people make fun of that all the time without knowing the reason). There is also a law in TN that highway patrol can stop you solely for the purpose of seeing if your license is valid.

I encountered a checkpoint between Knoxville & Maryville. This was during the Bush II administration.

Everyone had to stop and the drivers had to show the officer their license.

We had one in Scott County this weekend at the corner of 27 and 63 since they had that big weekend bash at Trails End with Travis Tritt.....I think they're were looking for ATVs on the streets myself......It was published in the local paper too....They called it a DUI checkpoint.....

Seems like a lot of people don't realize it is illegal to ride ATV's on the roads.

... and roll down the driver's window so the officer could smell the air wafting from the car, along with your breath. No one cares if your driver's license is expired. Everyone cares if you kill someone because you are driving while impaired.

From a Tennessee website:

Both Trails End and Brimstone campgrounds have welcomed 4-wheelers for big Memorial Day events the last few years. Now the addition of a new law is helping them out.
"We are just happy, glad the law was passed and they are a lot more ATV friendly in this area," said Love.
The law permits ATVs to drive on a stretch of state route 63 for specific event weekends. The change will allow riders a trip to gas up or grab a bite to eat.
RELATED: Bill could allow ATVs on section of Scott County highway
"People don't have to worry about it anymore, getting pulled over," said Kellie Krahn with Trails End. "As long as they aren't on the highway after dark they are fine, we are really happy about it."
With the law comes a nice boost to the ATV businesses.
"We want to be safe," Love said. "We want to abide by the laws, but we want to encourage tourism as well so it's been good for us."
While riders get the chance to tackle the terrains without a ticket.
"Most people who are coming down here are experienced on ATVs," said Kellie Krahn. "They know when to slow down and watch other vehicles."

Ha!!!! That last line is a real laugh....they are the worst about slowing down and watching.....The checkpoint here was more to make sure they didn't go on 27.....but when the checkpoint isn't there...they don't care...they are everywhere and it is dangerous....

Yes they exist.

Stop car.
Hand over license.
Take license back.
Drive away.

They exist in Greene County. In both Blount and Greene counties the law enforcement agencies publish in the newspaper when and where the checkpoints will be taking place well in advance of the activity.
