I think the worst of the damage was west of Nashville, and north of I-40. I don't think I've heard of any major damage in Sparta (I could be wrong, of course).

alleycat, I'm glad to see you are ok and still on here! I'd be lost with out ya. Hope everyone else is ok too!! Are tornado's frequent down there? May sound stupid but in all the talks and planning of moving I never thought of them. I put on the weather channel last night and now I'm kind of scared to move there

Default Tornado in Tennsssee

Hi all in Tennsssee and surrounding states.

This is coming from the Western Isles in Scotland where we occasionally experience sea-spouts and land tornadoes - but not as powerful as yours.

I have friends in Kingsport and wonder what areas were affected ? Would appreciate a reply or a link.

If anyone is interested, Gaelic is the main language on these islands.

Sean

I'm very sorry to hear about the tornadoes and their casualties. As others have said, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and those who have lost loved ones and property.

Hello Seanfromlewis,
Kingsport and the Tri-Cities areas just have rain. Major storms like this seem to break up a bit when they come from the west before they make it to the Tri-Cities.
I was flipping channels this morning trying to find out where the tornado's and storms did damage. It seems like Alabama up to Memphis TN got the worst of it. The pictures they are showing are just awful! I hope the rest of our gang from over that way check in soon.

What a night! My heart aches for the good people in Middle and West Tennessee who suffered so much. They're saying on the news that 24 people in Tennessee died last night from the tornadoes. And the pictures of Hickory Ridge Mall in Memphis are stunning.

And all this was happening while 20,000 of us were deliriously watching Tennessee beat Florida in men's basketball. It was a great game.

But what a night of contrasts! We were ecstatic and hoarse from the dazzling performance in Thompson-Boling Arena, but when we got home and turned on the news that ecstasy turned to stunned silence as we saw what tragedy that happened to our fellow Tennesseans. My prayers go out to everyone involved.

We're hearing of 50 or more fatalities in your area on the news here from the tornadoes... so many lives and properties lost.... so, so sad!

Just to let you know you're all in our thoughts and prayers here in Texas today... blessings to all
