We have family in outer Nashville area, and love Tennessee. We're in California, nearing retirement, and love the idea of being around beautiful country, friendly people, and near music (I'm a drummer). We're coming to the area in October for scouting and recon. How is McMinnville for housing cost (from what it see, it's good), but for jobs in Human Services, and overall good living? Is it worthy of a stop?

McMinnville is a cute little town that's seen better days. There's a reason housing is so cheap there. If you're looking for a job, you should know that McMinnville/Warren County has had a chronic problem with losing jobs and underemployment. Employment in Warren County is down by hundreds of jobs over the last couple of years. According to the Tennessee Department of Labor, there are hundreds more unemployed people in Warren County than available jobs. Chances are you'll have to commute to Murfreesboro, Cookeville, or Tullahoma for good jobs.
