Laura, I'm in Kentucky, but not too far from the Tn. line. My dad has problems with the diet of the birds in his neighbor hood on our side of the state line too. he said if they eat much more he's putting a change box on the bird feeder so they can help him pay for it! lol Said his retirement doesn't pay THAT good!

It sounds like a great learning tool while having some fun. I'm going to check it out.
I saw a Killdeer (first time ever) this past week and I knew what it was as soon as I saw it because of the software game. I didn't even have to check out the books when I got home except to verify I was right.

On the other hand, I also saw Cliff Swallows for the first time and had no idea what they were. They're not in my books and they're not in the game. Someone on the CD photography forum identified them for me from two photos and gave me a website reference. Very strange bird in its behavior but easily identifiable by their coloring once you know what they are. They acted like a group of bats. Went back the next day to get better photos and they were gone.

I love games where you do something other than shoot at people. That's why I love Sim City. I've been playing it since it first came out, maybe almost 20 years ago.

Even at Turkey Creek, I've found the people to be friendly. Even the transplants!

I love the shows that you are talking about, LauraC. For anyone that's interested, they are on WNOX. Love swap shows!

NO I do not remember the name of the hotel, but I do believe that it was on North Roan. The owner said that she had just purchased the property 3 weeks prior to that day.

TAPZ - I am just sure that those dings in your car door were made by people visiting from another state; surely not by a Tennessean.

As far as "show-off's"; we do have those here in Tennessee. We have the old car showoffs, the truck showoffs, the tractor pull showoffs, the biggest pumpkin showoff; you get the picture.

Thank you. This is exactly why I am moving to Tennessee. I live in the West Indies at this time and yearn for America. Everything you have talked about is why I have chosen Tennessee. I am a single mom with two girls in college in N.C. so I wanted to be fairly close to N.C. Started looking there first and crossed over into Tennessee and fell in love with Sneedville. After living on an island and having to travel by plane or boat everywhere, I welcome the drive to and from the nearby towns to explore and shop. You are a wonderful advocate for Tennessee. Keep it up.

Great post. I think the reasons you listed is why a lot of people are moving to TN. It is beautiful country (hope everyone will keep it that way). The climate is a good compermise of not too hot and not too cold. Best of all are the people of TN. They are great and as transplants we follow in their footsteps. Loving it here in East TN.
