It's that dadgum global warming.

Oh, wait.

I'm the holdout who can't make that whole concept pass my test of logic. It was the same way with the housing market runup in Florida. I kept saying it was unsustainable and was going to come to a crashing end and nobody else in my circle of people could fathom that.

Your fellow Tennesseean, Al Gore, will not like your skepticism. He wouldn't like my skepticism either.

I just keep thinking about the "overpopulation is going to crush the earth" craze in the 60s (I was just getting started but oh the books left behind from that era) and the "your hairspray is going to doom us all by 2010" stuff from the 70s that I do remember.

I just sort of find the whole thing grossly egotistical from a human v. planet standpoint. One is more powerful than the other. Which do you think it is? I know what makes sense to me, and I'm going with my gut. I try to do things that are sensible (reduce, reuse, etc) but if it doesn't make sense, I have a hard time with it.

The gentleman who cleans our chimney has a friend that is one of the top climatologists in the nation.

Last winter here sucked. Lasted an extra 5 weeks more or less.

His friend told him to expect this trend to last for the next 30 years!

Tinman,

Have a great trip! I hope it will be a little cooler for you than it was for us when we visited Tennessee last August. We will be visiting again in the fall. We can't wait! Let us know how your trip turns out.
