This is very important to us in Tennessee.
We all need a safe place to go in a tornado.

I got the following from WZTV FOX 17/Nashville.

In some tornado areas, the state offers grants to help people pay for shelters. And pressure is building here in Tennessee because some experts believe we're living in the "New Tornado Alley".
There are more than 1600 names on an online petition to get lawmakers here to provide grants for storm shelters.

If you'd like to add your name to it, go to Storm Shelter Grant Program in Tennessee Petition : [ powered by iPetitions.com ]

Please add your name to the list and pass this info along to everyone. This “New Tornado Alley” affects all of us. Even if you have a safe place to go during a tornado, please help get the petition passed for the rest of us.

Thanks, John1960, for that link. We do not have any protection here in N. GA. with our current house and it has been a concern with our future move to TN.

My name will be on the list!!

Default storm shelter

We are discussing our plans for future building and will put in a storm cellar when we build. Has anyone built a new home recently or have a home with a storm cellar?

We are torn about what is the best structure for the tornados, basement w/ a safe room under a convention style mid size home, depicted previously, or a monolithic dome home which seems to stand up well against severe winds.
